![]() Two Steps Although people think halitosis and bad breath are synonymous, there is something they need to consider. Halitosis is chronic bad breath. It is not caused by something you eat one time. It is a condition that results from something else. The first step to figuring out is you suffer from halitosis is recognizing you have bad breath. The second step is to figure out if it is a one-time occurrence or if it is something that keeps recurring. Recognizing the Bad BreathThere are several ways to tell if you have bad breath. There are several self-tests that include licking your wrist, letting it dry and smelling it. You can hold your hand close to your mouth and breath out to see if your breath smells. One of the easiest ways to find out is to ask someone if your breath smells. The Next Step To determine if you have halitosis or if this is a one-time thing, you can do a few things. You can make a list of the foods you eat. You can also try brushing your teeth and using mouthwash to cleanse your breath. If the bad breath returns, you could have halitosis. The best way to determine if you have halitosis and to find out the cause behind it is to visit our offices. A routine exam could find the cause of bad breath and can offer a solution. There is no reason to suffer through the embarrassment and awkwardness that halitosis creates. Instead, take the time to figure out if you have it and take some steps to do something about.
