![]() Ways to Tell if Brushing Technique Could ImproveIf you have bad breath, it is usually because there is an excessive amount of both bacteria and plaque in your mouth. These bacteria smell. They smell bad. You can't just chew some gum or pop a breath mint in your mouth to take away the smell. In fact, at this point, mouthwash will not even be able to help enough to cover up the bad breath. The smell coming from your mouth is a number one signal that your brushing needs vast improvement. If your gums are bleeding, you may need to work on brushing. If you don't brush properly plaque builds up along that gum line between your teeth. This is a clear result of not brushing well enough. The bacteria within your mouth will cause an inflamed response which will cause your gums to bleed. Gingivitis is the next step of decay for your gums and if you do not begin to brush properly or follow up with us, your situation will only get worse. If you go to your regular dental checkups and your appointment more often than not ends with news of a need for a filling because you have a cavity, you may need to brush up on brushing. You just are not taking care of your teeth well enough when you brush them. Consistent daily brushing is required to keep enamel strong and avoid tooth decay.
